About Me

My name is Heather Rutherford. I have spent my entire life around horses and they are my passion. I became a professional farrier to help horses be the most comfortable they can be from the hoof up.  I chose barefoot trimming as my specialty because I believe that natural hooves are healthier than iron clad hooves. I am kind and patient with all horses, but hold a special place in my heart for the rescued and/or timid horses, or horses that just haven't learned how to deal with their feet being trimmed. I am calm, so they can trust me, yet I know how to correct behavioral issues with a gentle firmness. I am willing to work with the owner along with any vet or other equine professional for the best outcome possible for the horse.

Love My Clients

My Clients Say...

"Takes her time"

"I absolutely adore Heather! She takes her time with my horses, and makes sure they are comfortable while she is working on them. I have three rescue horses, one of which is still really skiddish around people and he was so at ease with Heather. I would recommend her to anyone, and love that she is our barn farrier!"

"Heather is Amazing!"

"She is amazing with my 3 horses. They all have different personalities and she is great with all three of them. She is extremely patient with my 2 year old that still wants to test her boundaries and she is great working with my mare who has some muscle soreness in her stifle area."

-Amanda Keller

"Kind & Patient"

"I love Heather. She treats the horses with respect and love. She’s extremely patient and willing to work with you on any needs your horse might have!"
